The Asphalt Recycling & Reclaiming Association (ARRA) breaks asphalt recycling into five broad categories:

• Cold Planing (CP)
• Cold Recycling (CR)
• Hot Recycling
• Hot In-Place Recycling (HIR)
• Full Depth Reclamation (FDR)
